Bodie was not originally supposed to be Bodie.
When we first connected with her breeder, she was known as Sia, and we had every intention of keeping that name. But the moment we met her, it was immediately clear that this dog had far too much personality for us not to give her a name that matched it. She walked into our lives with a bodacious presence, and the name Bodie just fit. It also happens to be the name of a ghost town in California that we have always loved, which made the choice feel even more right.
Because of import requirements, Bodie had to be at least six months old before she could come to the United States, so she did not arrive until late January 2026. Since bringing her home, we have been very intentional about giving her time to settle in, adjust to her new environment, and simply be a dog before asking too much of her. Watching her personality unfold has been one of the most enjoyable parts of getting to know her.
Bodie is a wonderfully easygoing Pembroke Welsh Corgi with a go with the flow attitude that balances our group perfectly. She is confident without being pushy, playful without being chaotic, and always very aware of where the people are and what they are doing. She absolutely loves attention and has no problem making sure she is the one getting the pets, often bulldozing her way past the other dogs with zero apology.
Bodie is still young and we are only at the beginning of our journey with her, but everything we have seen so far makes us incredibly excited about her future. She brings confidence, personality, and a steady temperament that we believe will make her an important part of the foundation we are building at Darkwood Corgis.
